CUP OF NATIONS DRAW: No Seeding For Ghana And Nigeria

Ghana and Nigeria have been placed in the second tier of teams for Friday's Africa Cup of Nations draw. Defending champions Egypt join Africa's top-ranked team Cameroon and Ivory along with hosts Angola in Pot 1, which contains the seeded teams. Tunisia, Ghana and Mali are with Nigeria in Pot 2. Pot 3 will contain Zambia, Benin, Algeria and Togo while Pot 4 has Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Gabon and Malawi. According to CAF, the seedings are based on performance criteria from the last three Africa Cup of Nations competitions as laid down in the regulations. Angola, as host, will occupy the top position in Group A and will be based in Luanda. Egypt as the defending champions will be Group C top seeds and will be based in Benguela. Cameroon and Ivory Coast, the remaining seeded teams, are placed in Group B (Cabinda) and Group D (Huila) respectively, for their performance in the three last editions of the competition. The draw rules are simple: no two teams from the same pot will be placed in the same group, and each group will be composed of one team from each pot. The draw comes up tomorrow at 16:00 hours local time (3pm Ghanaian time) at the Talatona Convention Centre in Luanda. Pot 1: Angola, Egypt, Cameroun, Ivory Coast. Pot 2: Tunisia, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria Pot 3: Zambia, Benin, Algeria, Togo Pot 4: Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Gabon Malawi. (Note: Teams in the same pot will not face each in the same group)
