The recent sadistic and de-humanizing incident in Bawku in which two men, apart from being satanically stripped naked by two soldiers, were subjected to severe beatings, with blood oozing generously from their bodies, has raised eyebrows and lends credence to the fact that President Mills�s �I care for all� pronouncement is a mere political rhetoric.
This is due to the fact that ever since the incident came to the notice of the public, virtually no attempt has been made by the authorities concerned or the Government to establish the veracity or otherwise of the matter.
Strangely enough, the story was greeted with a vehement denial by Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen Peter Augustine Blay.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) functionaries and the apologists of the Mills government, who have been vociferous in their call for killers of Issa Mobila to be brought to book, have all maintained a deafening silence on the matter.
It has now emerged that there are video recordings of the incident from the conflict zone!
We at the Daily Searchlight would not want to go into the details of the said recordings at this juncture, but wish to state that this heinous and dehumanizing act, criminal as it is, must be accorded the same prominence like the Issa Mobila case and that it must be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to book.
We cannot live in a society where the citizenry would not have the peace and freedom to go about their normal activities just because of a few disgruntled and overzealous characters masquerading as �soldiers� wanting to please the powers that be. These reckless and unbridled soldiers must be made to face the consequence of their unrestrained dehumanizing acts.
We are anxiously waiting to see the conclusion of this matter!
