Rawlings Sympathizes With Gas Explosion Victims, Calls For Effective Preventive Measures

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has called for the implementation of “effective preventive measures” to deal with the recurring gas explosions around the country.

In a tweet on Sunday, Rawlings called the latest gas explosion incident in Accra on Saturday, which claimed seven lives and injured over 130 others as a sad day resulting from, among others, irresponsibility.

The gas explosion at the Atomic Junction on the Legon – Madina Road in Accra, suspected to have been caused by a khebab seller’s fire, also destroyed property and completely burnt a number of vehicles.

Said Rawlings: “Another sad day for city dwelling on account of the congestion, irresponsibility and dangers we've brought to city life. My deep sympathies to all those affected. Time to implement effective preventive measures. Life is too precious.#AtomicExplosion

President Akufo-Addo and his vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have equally expressed concerns over the fatal gas explosions and vowed the implementation of measures to prevent such accidents.
