I’m Not Dead – MP Cries Out

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa East in the Upper West Region, Godfrey Tangu Bayon, has deflated widespread reports in the mainstream and social media that he is dead, saying that it is a concocted story.

He said that he was very much surprised about those reports which gained currency the whole of yesterday, adding that even though he had undergone surgery on his spine in June, this year and is recuperating from the operation, he is as fit as fiddle.

“When I heard about the news of my death, I just laughed and said this may be another diabolic handiwork of my political detractors,” Mr Tangu Bayon told DAILY GUIDE yesterday.

According to the MP, if his detractors were thinking about any bye-election in the Wa East Constituency, then they would be disappointed because he is fit and capable of completing his four-year term in parliament.

“If they want my seat, they should wait till 2020 when the next general election is conducted,” he said, adding that he had prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to deal with his detractors for peddling such ‘serious’ allegation about him.

He told the paper that he had been inundated with a lot of calls from his friends, family members, constituents and radio stations over such false alarm since Monday.

Mr Tangu Bayon explained that since parliament resumed from recess last week, he had always been present in the house and that he was there yesterday and attended a committee meeting on poverty reduction.

“I wish to tell all my friends, family members and constituents that I am very much alive and should therefore ignore that propaganda by my detractors,” he pointed out.
