Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Allotey Jacobs has backed arguments by his party National Vice Chairman and Deputy General Secretary, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Koku Anyidoho, that the Akufo-Addo administration is orchestrating a plot to remove EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, from office.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, Allotey Jacobs stated emphatically that the petition to impeach Charlotte Osei is nothing but a “political conspiracy” by President Akufo-Addo and his government.

He noted that some people have been “compromised” to ensure that the EC Boss is kicked out of office.

To him, it’s always been a political agenda by the NPP government that when they assume power, they would find faults with Mrs. Charlotte Osei and devise ways to replace her because she was perhaps appointed under the erstwhile Mahama regime.

“Politics is about conspiracy. People will conspire to make sure that they will succeed in their agenda...So; the agenda is to get this woman out. It is about that. The whole modus operandi is to get this woman out because they don’t like her. When they were in opposition, they didn’t like her.

“I’m sure people have been compromised to make sure that whatever it is, it will be tailored towards this case, the woman will be faulted and will be kicked out of the system,” he stated.

Also touching on the issue, the former Member of Parliament for Bantama, Henry Kokofu dismissed the claims by Allotey Jacobs and his colleagues, stating emphatically that Mrs. Charlotte Osei is not above the law.

He wants the NDC functionaries to know that the Akufo-Addo administration has no ulterior motives but what they are doing is to ensure that the EC Boss and her two deputies accused of corruption go through the democratic systems laid down by Ghana’s constitution to clear their names.
