Kwesi Appiah Tips Mohammed Salah To Win 2017 African Player Award

Head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, James Kwesi Appiah, believes among three players competing for the 2017 African Player of the Year award, Mohammed Salah looks firm favourite to win the award considering his exploits for both club and country.

The ruthless attacking midfielder has been in terrific form for Liverpool this season and he’s currently leading the goal king race in the English Premier League with 14 goals.

Salah also propelled the Pharaohs of Egypt qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup set to be staged in Russia having had a successful World Cup qualification campaign.

In an interview with the media, after the CAF’s unveiling of the final nominees for the 2017 African Player of the Year, Appiah said: “I think they all deserve the nomination. It’s unfortunate there was no Ghanaian but for me personally I will choose Mohammed Salah because he has become an integral part of the Egyptian national team and has been very impressive for his club side.

“Nonetheless the two players chosen [Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] have all performed well and either of them deserve the accolade.”

Meanwhile, the winner of the award will be named at the AITEO CAF awards 2017 ceremony be held in Accra on 4th January 2018.
