Nana Promises To Root Out Fulani Raids

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promised to end the Fulani menace, especially in the Kwahu areas of the Eastern Region, before his term of office ends.

According to him, his government had put measures in place, which would be rolled out very soon to end the Fulani menace across the country.

President Akufo Addo stressed further that his administration would fulfill all the promises he made during the 2016 electioneering campaign and called on all Ghanaians to rally behind his government.

He made these remarks when he paid a courtesy call on the Kwahu Traditional Council, headed by the new paramount chief, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, on Thursday, being the second day of his Eastern Regional tour.

Kwahu Chief’s Requests

Earlier, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II had appealed to President Akufo-Addo to construct the roads and provide water for the Kwahu ridge, complete an abandoned district hospital at Abetifi and also end the Fulani menace.

He noted that Ghanaians are importing a lot of consumable foodstuffs, and asked the president to make sure that the ‘one district, one factory’ policy is implemented to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II was optimistic if such social amenities are provided, the residents won’t disappoint the NPP in any elections.

Visit To Asesewa

At the Upper Manya-Krobo District, President Akufo-Addo was hopeful the Krobo area would become a territory of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) by the time he completes his tenure.

According to him, the NPP had not done so well in terms of winning elections in the three constituencies in the Krobo area since the 4th Republic began in 1992.

In 2016, the party won its first parliamentary seat in the Upper Manya-Krobo Constituency.

The Konor of the Odumase Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sakite II, in a welcoming address, stated, “For the third time this year in Manya Krobo, I have the privilege to once again receive the president on behalf of the Krobo chiefs and people.

Nene Sakite appealed to the president for an “additional district assembly” in the area.

He also urged the government to construct a water treatment plant, as well as an inland harbour for the people of Manya-Krobo.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, stated that the government had taken notice of all the bad roads in the Manya-Krobo area and was in the process of awarding them to contractors for work to begin on them.

The minister gave the assurance that in February 2018, he would be in the area for the cutting of sod for construction work to begin on the bad roads.
