President leaves Ghana for Liberia

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday left Ghana for Liberia to attend the inaugural ceremony of the President-Elect of the Republic of Liberia, George Oppon Weah.

He will join other West African leaders at the event that is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 22, 2018, in that country's capital city, Monrovia.

The President was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah and officials from the Presidency.

He will return to Ghana on Tuesday, January 23, 2008.

The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Aaron Ocquaye will act as the President, as the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is on medical leave outside Ghana.

Parliament has been recalled to swear in Prof Ocquaye as the acting President.
