Mr. Charles Osei Assibey, President of Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) has urged corporate bodies to invest in Armwrestling for the upcoming 9th African Armwrestling Championship slated for Accra from 26th -29th July, 2018.

Mr. Assibey noted that his outfit would need over $100,000 to host a successful championship in an interview with GNA Sports, after launching the 9th African Armwrestling Championship in Accra aimed at showcasing the beauty and culture of Ghana to the rest of Africa and the world.

“We need about $108,000 to be able to successfully host Africa most African countries want to participate, but are facing financial challenges, so we want to support them to get a good championship to sell Ghana.
“We took up the challenge to host this championship to continue to promote and expand the Armwrestling sport.

“Now that people know that the rest of Africa is coming to Ghana in July, it would be an opportunity to sell Ghana and it would help in our tourism and commerce” he added.

According to the seasoned sports journalist this is the time for corporate Ghana to invest into the sport and help project Ghana to Africa and the rest of the world.

“I am using this platform to invite and urge corporate Ghana and Africa to support Armwrestling to continue to grow to become a sport of choice for the people of Ghana”.

The Federation, which is affiliated to the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and Africa Armwrestling Federation (AAF) has won over 22 medals at the 8th edition of the championship held in Nigeria.
