The Mpohor District Assembly in collaboration with the District Police Command have closed down a guest house at Wassa Manso, a farming community in the district for hosting Commercial sex workers and hard drug peddlers.
It is believed that the said guest house is for the assembly member for Manso electoral area Lawrence Wireko.
Some residents who spoke to Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene Gyan said most of the said commercial sex workers are from Nigeria. A team of police personnel in the early hours of this morning invaded the said guest house to arrest the commercial sex workers and the drug peddlers but were unsuccessful after they got wind of the swoop.
The sex workers and the drug peddlers have stormed the community because galamsey is booming.
They commercial sex workers are said to be charging between twenty(GHC20) and thirty Cedis (GH30) for short time and GH120 for a full night.
The police also in a related development arrested one galamsey operator in the same community. A tour in some part of the district revealed that galamsey is still ongoing.
They have occupied large portions of land within Cocoa farms in the area.
