Police Denies Speculations Of Strange Deaths

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command has refuted speculations by the general public concerning alleged four strange deaths in Nsoatre in the Sunyani West District.

Police Superintendent Nana Kwaku Duah, the Regional Crime Officer told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) an interview in Sunyani that the Police had heard of the speculations by the public and on some local radio stations, but there had not been any official report to the Police.

He challenged any individual or family to come out with the name of any relative who was mysteriously dead or missing for the Police to launch investigations.

Supt. Duah said some people were intentionally using the media to spread false information around which could create unnecessary fear and panic among the populace and advised those making such allegations to refrain from that, since it was preventing particularly farmers in remote areas from going to their farms.

He expressed the fear that the situation could consequently affect agricultural productivity and result in food shortage in the region.

Meanwhile the youth of Nsoatre have appealed to the Sunyani Divisional Police Command to detail patrol team to Nsoatre and its environs to help prevent such strange deaths in the area.

They have alleged that three persons including; a young lady had been found dead in a mysterious manner, while one person was also reported missing from the community recently.

The youth have thus decided to form neighbourhood watch dog committees to assist the Police in averting such heinous crimes and apprehend the culprits.

They appealed to land lords and land ladies to rely on the Police to do thorough background checks of prospective tenants who would be approaching them for rooms to rent to ascertain if such persons were not criminals and ritual murderers.

The youth also entreated the residents of Nsoatre to be vigilant and report strange persons they see roaming on the streets to the Police for their arrest and interrogation.
