Kwesi Okyere, 18-year-old driver’s mate has been put before an Accra Circuit charged for sexually abusing a seven-year old girl at La, a suburb in Accra.

Okyere also charged with defilement has pleaded not guilty, but the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded him into Police custody to reappear on February 28 for hearing.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the court that the complainant who is the father of the victim is a barber residing at La, near Avana Park.

Chief Inspector Atimbire said Okyere also resides in the same house with the complainant.

According to prosecution, the victim often goes to the accused grandfather’s house to play with her peers.

In January this year, prosecution said at noon, Okyere lured the victim into his grandfather’s sitting room and had sexual intercourse with her.

Prosecution said Okyere threatened the victim not disclose the act to anyone or else he would kill her.

The prosecution said Okyere on several occasions had sexual intercourse with the victim and sometimes inserts his fingers into her private part in a wooden structure around.

The prosecution said the victim has been experiencing pain in her vagina when urinating but she failed to tell anyone.

On February 7, this year, the victim informed her father that she has been experiencing pain in her vagina and when she was questioned, she mentioned Okyere as the one who has been inserting his manhood and fingers into her private part.

A report was made to the Police at La and the accused person was arrested, the case was transferred later to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit where a medical report form was issued to the victim to enable her to seek treatment.
