Robber Shot In Mouth Remanded

Joseph Kuma, a welder who was reportedly shot in the mouth, neck and face during an alleged robbery at Manet Village, Spintex, Greater Accra Region, has been remanded into custody by an Accra circuit court.

The suspect, together with one Ayittey Wadana – who is currently at large – on February 2, 2018, allegedly raided the house of a technician wielding a cutlass.

They are reported to have stolen six mobile phones, a digital camera, a laptop and a power bank.

Unknown to them however, the complainant, armed with a pump action gun, was watching them from his bedroom while they were packing their booty onto a table in the living room.

Realising that they had been busted, Joseph Kuma reportedly attempted to attack the occupant of the house with a cutlass, but in defence, the occupant fired a shot, hitting the accused in the mouth, neck and face.

The suspect, who was in bandage, was put before the court for conspiracy and robbery.

His plea was however, not taken because he could not speak.

Superintend Patience Mario prayed the court to remand him so that he could be taken to the hospital for treatment.

She said the suspect, after sustaining the wounds, went to the Lekma Hospital where he was treated and later referred to the 37 Military Hospital.

She stated that after a careful examination, the medical doctor detected that the injuries were sustained through a gunshot and therefore reported the case to the police.

He was subsequently arrested and reportedly admitted the offence during interrogation.
