The District Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Mr. Stephen Wilks Kofi Mensah, has appealed to the people in the area, to remain calm as the police investigate last Friday�s shooting incident in which two people died. �We should all allow the law o take its course as the police try to unearth the truth�, he said. Mr. Mensah said that, Sefwi Wiawso was now calm as people were going about their normal duties without any disturbances. He said that the first incident that killed Lydia Osei of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and wounded another staff, Clara Owusu, could be said to be accidental. However, the attack on the palace by the youth which resulted in the death of Joseph Kofi Nkrumah was premeditated. �But the situation had not gone �hay-wire� because it had not degenerated into a communal problem�, Mr. Mensah stated. The incident, he said occurred as some youth were not happy with the protracted chieftaincy dispute in Sefwi Wiawso and forcibly entered the palace. For now, he said that, the situation was �under control� last Friday, a funeral ceremony for the Abontendomhene of the area, nana Yaw Korankye, turned bloody when two persons were killed and another also seriously injured. The commotion began when guns used in a musketry were fired and killed Lydia while Clara also of IRS, got injured. Joseph John Nkrumah was also killed when some youth attempted to force their way into the palace. Sefwi Wiawso has been rocked in recent time by a chieftaincy dispute that has necessitated the placing of the palace under 24-hour police and military guard.
