My Wife Took a Grape Drink Not 'Akpeteshie' – Rev Owusu Bempah

Controversial man of God, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah has debunked claims that his newly wedded wife, Abena Animah took a shot of local hard gin, ‘akpeteshie’ minutes before their traditional wedding ceremony a week ago.

The General Overseer of Glorious Word Power Ministry International described the video circulating of his wife asking for a top of the alleged 'akpeteshie' amidst her friends as “unfortunate” – and claims “it’s an agenda to defame him.”

The 14 seconds video which has sparked controversy on social media captures the bride-to-be asking another lady to pour her a drink stored in a container after the lady had already had her own share.

The other lady with undisclosed identity brought out a cup and poured some of the colourless drink alleged to be akpeteshie and asked the pastor’s wife, “Is it OK?”

She retorted, “No add some more” to the amazement of other women in the room who exclaimed, “Eeeiii Osofo Maame!”

But, Rev Owusu Bempah on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed, ‘Ghana Montie’ noted that, his ‘well-endowed’ wife requested for a soft liquor “sprite” because she was hungry.

“ . . They brought sprite but she said no; she requesed for coke but she refused later and ordered for a red grapes drink, so whiles she was been served, a friend asked if the amount poured is okay which she [my wife] asked the one serving her to add some little”, he explained.

“Who on earth will drink akpeteshie on his or her wedding day knowing very well that he or she is going to meet the in-laws ?” he questioned

The man of God was also emphatic that “My wife doesn’t even take alcohol. She is not a drunkard.”
