President John Evans Atta Mills has appointed Mr. Joseph Kofi Harlley as the Registrar General of the Registrar General's Department (RGD) effective August 16, 2009. A statement issued by Ms Josephine Tsekpo, Public Relations Officer of RGD, on Thursday quoted Mr. Mike K. Gabah, Secretary of Public Services Commission (PSC), as saying: "His Excellency the President on the advice of the Legal Service Board, given in consultation with the PSC, authorizes your appointment as the Registrar-General of the RGD on contract for two years subject to medical fitness and other checks." The statement said that Mr. Harlley, who had been working with the Department for about 29 years, was appointment in 2007 as the Acting Registrar General.
