Some illegal chainsaw operators at Mim in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, last Sunday, shit-bombed shops belonging to the Zonal Council Chairman, Joseph Buadu, for announcing on a local information centre that illegal chainsaw operators should stop operating in the Bonkone Forest which is earmarked for re-afforestation.

According to information gathered by DAILY GUIDE, forestry officials were to start tree planting in the Bonkone Forest and as the Zonal Council Chairman, he was asked to  publicly warn the  residents not to go into the forest else they will be arrested.

The announcement was made on the 4th of May 2018 but this did not go down well with the illegal chainsaw operators in the area.  Led by one Yaw Boateng, a group of chainsaw operators accosted Joseph the following day with a threat to show him where power lies.  On 6th of May at about 7:30pm some unknown men went and smeared human excreta on his shops and residence.

Mr. Buadu told the police at Mim that he went to his shop the following day only to realize that some people had smeared human faeces on the gates of his shop. He said the people went ahead and did the same thing on his veranda and other areas in his home. He suspected Yaw and his group to be behind the action. Police say investigations have started to get the perpetrators. Regional police spokesman, Chief Inspector Kingsley Oppong, confirmed this to DAILY GUIDE on phone.
