National Service Registration Extended To June 20

The National Service Secretariat (NSS) has extended the deadline for the 2018/2019 national service registration to June 20.

This is to enable prospective service personnel who have not been able to register as of now to do so.

The registration was originally planned to end Wednesday May 30, 2018 and prospective personnel are to produce either a valid voter’s ID card, SSNIT biometric card or passport to register. National Health Insurance ID cards are not accepted.

Explaining the postponement, the Public Relations Officer of the NSS, Mr David Prah said it has been realised that many prospective service personnel have not been able to register because they don’t have any of the required national identification cards.

He said although a good number of people have been able to register successfully, some have not been able to register basically due to their inability to produce a valid identity card.

He said the NSS has therefore made arrangements with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) for people to register for the SSNIT biometric ID cards which is accepted for national service registration.

Mr Prah advised prospective national service personnel to make good use of the extension.
