The erstwhile second-in-command of the football governing body speaks on the current issues of the unit
 
Former Ghana Football Association vice-president Fred Pappoe says government would have to hasten their move to rebuild the football governing body on the back of a recent corruption scandal.

Football activities in the country have been suspended indefinitely, with steps underway to dissolve the FA, following the screening of an investigative documentary which exposed corrupt and match-fixing activities of top officials and referees. 

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi consequently resigned from his position, with the authorities naming a five-man team to run football in the interim. 

"The clubs will continue to operate if owners are still committed to football despite the dissolution of the GFA," Pappoe said, as reported by Kickgh. 

"I don't think there is [an intention] to disband the clubs. Definitely, there will be the need for a convergence of ideas and minds.

"But I think the longer it [dissolution] delays, the worse it will be.

"The clubs are not confrontational in any way. As a matter of fact, Ghalca [Ghana League Clubs Association] has indicated their readiness to team up and partner with the government to find a way out of the current situation."

According to a government statement on Thursday, the Interim Management Committee will soon hold meetings with Fifa and Caf to "discuss current developments in Ghanaian football administration and to chart the way forward."

It is, thus, unclear when the affected Ghana Premier League will return.
