Sex Is Really Good For The Heart – Cardiologist Advises

Having sex several times a week can lead to better circulation and healthier blood vessels in men, a cardiologist at Wake Forest University Medical Centre at North Carolina in the USA has said.

According to him, women also benefit much less because sexual arousal is less dependent on having a healthy blood flow, which is a key factor in keeping homocysteine under control.

Dr Joseph Yeboah disclosed this on Adom FM’s morning show Wednesday while discussing the increasing rate of hypertension cases in Ghana.

Hypertension is the number killer disease in Ghana today. Doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital say almost 70 percent of all deaths at the hospital are caused by hypertensive conditions.

The disease affects nearly one out of every five Ghanaian adults.

Commonly referred to as high blood pressure or BP, hypertension is the major cause of strokes, heart attacks, heart failure and chronic renal failure.

Dr Joseph Yeboah on Dwaso Nsem said, more people are becoming hypertensive due to unhealthy lifestyles.

He noted that severe hypertension shows signs of headaches, sleepiness, palpitation, blurred vision, fatigue, dizziness, confusion, ringing sensation in the ears, breathing difficulty and irregular heartbeat which may even lead to coma.

The cardiologist indicated that excessive intake of salt, high-fat foods among others are to blame for the increasing prevalence of hypertension in Ghana.

Dr Joseph Yeboah advised Ghanaians to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables to live a life free of hypertension and its ramifications.
