Medeamaa Protest Violent Attacks

The management of Division One League (DOL) side, Medeamaa F/C, has made a formal complaint to the DOL board regarding acts of violence visited on the team during their second week DOL match against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah Stadium at Cape Coast. According to Mohamed Alhassan, Accra Representative of the club, fans of the home team, in a bid to intimidate them launched unprovoked attack on players and officials of Medeamaa, inflecting wounds on some of their officials. He said the clubs deputy Accra Representative Mr Jewel Elliot in the process lost his cell phone and camera. Alhassan said the welfare officer of the club, among others, was not spared as machete wounds were inflicted on him. Our suspicion is that these acts had the tacit support of the Dwarfs top hierarchy, as the hooligans were initially introduced as security men hired to provide protection for players and officials of Medeamaa. Indeed, when the hooligans launched their violent attack on us, the few Dwarfs officials at the VIP stand looked on as the fans visited the violence on us, he stated. He lauded the Cape Coast Police who finally restored order and retrieved his handset from the fans.
