Nantong DCE Gets Unanimous Approval

The President's nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nantong in the Northern Region, Abubakar Hattramani, has been endorsed unanimously.

All 27 assembly members voted yes to approve Hattramani.

Speaking minutes before Mr Hatramani's confirmation, the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, said separating Nanton from the Savelugu Municipal Assembly was a clear manifestation of government’s commitment to get the area developed.

He tasked the chiefs and people of the area to support the district assembly to achieve the needed development.

He also charged the newly approved DCE to work together with the traditional rulers in the area and the Member of Parliament (MP) to better the lives of the people.

The DCE-elect, Hattramani urged the people in the newly created district to support him to succeed.

According to him, the area faces enormous challenges that need the support of everybody.

Hattramani thanked the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, for the honour done him.

The Nantong DCE also thanked members of the assembly for the confidence reposed in him, saying that the overwhelming confirmation of his nomination is also an endorsement by the chiefs and people in the area.

The new DCE assured members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and citizenry of the district that he was going to live up to expectation in the discharge of his duties.

"I would like to assure honourable assembly members and the entire district that I will live up to expectation, up to the trust that has been reposed in me.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, being once a presiding member of the then Savelugu-Nantong District Assembly, I clearly understand the concerns of honourable assembly members and have pledged to carry those concerns on board in the exercise of my duties as a DCE. I wish to also assure our beloved NPP party of my commitment to promoting peace and unity by bringing all aggrieved members in the party," he said.

He said though the district was faced with lots of challenges, his administration was going to do everything possible to ensure that security and comfort were guaranteed, and as such appealed to the Regional Minister and the citizenry to support him to better the socio-economic development in the district.

"The district is still facing enormous challenges in terms of its development, internally generated funds, boundary conflict, lack of senior high schools, lack of good drinking water, bad roads, among others.”
