Four Arrested for Pastors Murder

Four men suspected of the murder of a pastor of the Enchi branch of Light House Chapel on December 30, 2009 have been arrested. The pastor, Peter Nii Addy, was murdered at the dawn of December 30, at Gbawe, Accra, by armed robbers who broke into their house, ransacked their room and took GH400 from him. Pastor Addy was in Accra to assist a colleague, Rev. Frederick Acheampong of the Frontline Glory Church, to officiate a wedding ceremony. The suspects, Osei Prempeh, 28; Kwabena Ebo, Yaw Asamoah and Kofi Yeboah all aged 30, were arrested at their hideouts and are assisting in police investigations. These were disclosed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Rose Bio Atinga, when she addressed a press conference in Accra yesterday to update the press on crime wave in the region. She said following a report by Rev. Acheampong to the Odorkor Police about Pastor Addy's murder, the police mounted a search to apprehend the perpetrators. She said acting on intelligence, the police arrested Kwabena Ebo, leader of the group at Prankese, near Kade in the Eastern Region on January 3. Ebo, she said, on interrogation admitted the offence and mentioned the names of the others as his accomplices and told the police that the ammunition and implements they used in the robbery were hidden on top of a hill at Gbawe. DCOP Atinga said Osei Prempeh was accosted when the police, with the assistance of Ebo, went to the site to retrieve the arms. With the assistance of the two, Yaw Asamoah and Kofi Yeboah were also arrested at Asofa, near Ofankor on Tuesday evening when they were preparing to go and rob again, she added. She said three rifles, cutlasses, live catridges, a lap top, DVD players, face masks, and other accoutrements were retrieved from a pit on the hill. Throwing more light on the incident, DCOP Atinga said after the suspects had robbed and killed the pastor, they proceeded to the house of Alhaji Seidu also at Gbawe where they robbed him of his personal effects and raped his 19-year-old daughter. DCOP Atinga said the police were determined to encounter robbers at any given time and warned the perpetrators to desist from such acts before the law caught up with them.
