ROSA ‘97 Supports Alma Mater

The 1997 Year Group of the St. Roses Senior High School on Saturday June 30, 2018 presented 116 wardrobe units valued at GHc 27,600.00 to their alma mater at a short ceremony on the school’s premises in Akwatia.

Presenting the items on behalf of the past students, Mrs. Cynthia Kwabi, President of the group informed the school authorities and students that in 2017, the 1997 Year Group committed to support their alma mater by constructing 200 wardrobe units for the school in commemoration of the Group’s 20th Anniversary. 

The project is aimed at enabling students store their personal belongings in a more secure place.

The President said with increase in student intake, the group deemed it necessary to assist with the developmental needs of the school in order to improve the living conditions of present and future students.

She expressed the Group’s appreciation to all who had supported the project and appealed to the students to take good care of the wardrobes for the benefit of future students.

Ms. Marian Esi Jackson, headmistress of the school, who received the items thanked the past students for their kind gesture and assured them of the school’s commitment to ensure the longevity of the wardrobes.

The Group’s fundraising efforts for the anniversary project commenced in July 2017, with a Family Fun Day event that enjoyed sponsorship from Blue Skies Co. Ltd., Databank and Allied Oil Co. Ltd as well as some media partners.

Other sources of funding included donations from members of the year group and individuals.

Proceeds from the gate fee and sale of food and drinks at the event were ploughed back into the project.
