Mahama Used NDC’s 'Unity Walk' To Consult – Kofi Adams

National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams says former President John Dramani Mahama took advantage of NDC’s ‘Unity Walk’ across the country to ask for advice on his intention to contest the presidency again.

According to him, he knew of John Mahama’s ‘come back’ before he officially announced it to the party recently.

“Before his final decision yesterday(Thursday), there has been a lot of consultation across the country. He used the unity walk in all the regions wisely to consult leadership of the party and chiefs of his intention to run again. He [John Mahama] was advised well,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM's political talk show ‘Torchlight’.

John Mahama has officially informed his party leadership about his intention to contest for the flagbearer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Mahama now joins a host of other aspirants including; Alban Bagbin, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Sylvester Mensah, Joshua Alabi and some others who have already expressed interest in the vacant position.

The NDC on Thursday, August 2, 2018 announced that its presidential hopefuls could start campaigning for the election slated for December 7, 2018, but they must officially inform the party.

It is an open secret that even though campaign activities towards the party’s presidential primary officially began on Thursday, August 2, 2018, some of the aspirants started campaigning about a year ago.

Kofi Adams however told host of the show, Mac-Jerry Osei Agyeman that, Mr Mahama strategically started ‘campaigning’ before he officially made public his intention to contest the presidency in 2020.

“He did not plan to use the unity walk as a consultative platform but he was smart to use that to seek advice from party members including the party founder. And I must say it was well accepted,” he said.
