Effiduase SHS Student Stabbed To Death By Unknown Attackers

A final-year student of the Effiduase Senior High School who broke bounds to go watch a football match on television at night, has been killed by suspected robbers.

Derrick Agyei, 18, together with another student, Douglas Obeng, 17 were said to have jumped the school wall and went to town at about 6pm.

Whilst on their way, they were accosted by two suspected robbers.

The suspects demanded that they hand over their mobile phones and money.

Douglas who had only Gh¢2 complied and gave it out, but Derrick reportedly refused.

The robbers then reportedly pounced on Derrick to forcibly take out his money and mobile phone.

He resisted and one of the attackers brought out an implement and stabbed him in the neck, close to the collarbone, Police Superintendent, Asare Bediako in charge of the Sekyere East District said in a radio interview with Accra based Class FM.

Douglas instead of going back to school fled, and went to town according to the police.

Derrick who was bleeding jumped the wall back to campus but couldn’t go to his dormitory and reportedly fell behind one of the boys dormitories, according to the police.

He was seen later by a mate, who was going to take a bath, he raised an alarm and some students assisted him to carry Derrick who was lying in a pool of blood to the house of the housemaster who helped to convey him to the hospital.

He was however pronounced dead on arrival at the Effiduase Government Hospital.

Superintendent Asare Bediako said the police has taken the statement of Douglas but have not been able to arrest the perpetrators.

He said “it has not been easy on the school compound” for the students, and added the police has asked them to be calm as efforts are underway to arrest the perpetrators.
