State Funding Of Political Parties Is My Priority Spio Garbrah

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) and former NDC Presidential aspirant, Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah, says there is the need for government to take into consideration the state funding of political parties. Speaking on Peace FMs Kokrokoo, Dr. Spio Garbrah said state funding of political parties was very vital and critical, as even developed countries funded political parties. The aspiring Vice Chairman of the NDC believes with the vast experience he has acquired in politics as well as his involvement in serving in various capacities in government, delegates will have faith in him by electing him as one of the partys Vice-Chairmen in the forthcoming NDC National Delegates Conference. According to him, the NDC as a party needed an outspoken, intelligent, dedicated and hardworking personality like him to fill one of the positions as a Vice Chairman. My priority is not in just occupying the position but the possibility of serving the party effectively, he said. Responding to allegations of bribery leveled against him by the Ghanaian Lens newspaper, the former Ghanas Ambassador to the US rubbished the allegations and described them as falsehood. I have not paid any monies to delegates to vote for me as one of the partys Vice ChairmanI am not even in a position to do so and even more importantly, the election has not began so I do induce delegates with money, he stressed. He told Peace FM that he rather comment on reports of delegates being induced with monies and mobile phones during the Sunyani congress to elect new executive officers of the party. There is the need to rather investigate the Sunyani bribery allegations rather than focusing on meI urge all party supporters to rally behind me to win a Vice Chairmanship position and help restore the party to its former glory, he said.
