Former French international Thierry Henry has accepted an offer to be manager of Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

In a post to announce this, Thierry Henry expressed excitement at the opportunity.

“It is with great pride that I am delighted to announce that I have accepted the position to become the manager of AS Monaco FC.”

He revealed that many “attractive” offers came his way over the last couple of months.

Henry began his professional career with ASM, scoring 20 goals in 105 appearances  between 1994 and 1999.

He went on to play for English giants Arsenal, where he remains the record scorer, Juventus and Barcelona, ending his career at New York Red Bulls.

In 2016, he was appointed assistant manager to Robert Martinez in charge of the Belgium national team.

“I’m incredibly excited to be given this opportunity but now the hard work must begin. Can’t wait,” Henry wrote on Saturday.
