Students Association donates computers to schools

The South Sissala Tertiary Students Association (SOSTYA) has presented computers to the Funsi Saint Johns and the Kundungu Junior High schools to facilitate ICT training in those schools. The donation is in fulfilment of a promise made by the association to provide learning facilities for under privileged schools in the area to promote ICT training. Mr. Timothy Nbenaba, President of the Association who presented the items, said children in deprived schools were at a disadvantage because of the lack of electricity to enhance ICT training and the use of modern gadgets to promote teaching and learning. He said SOSTYA would continue to assist deprived schools in the area with teaching and learning materials. Mr. Nbenaba said the donation was the beginning of their support in efforts to bring schools in the area at par with those in urban centres. Mr. Adams Bakuli, an Education Circuit Supervisor who received the computers on behalf of the schools, thanked the association for the donation. He appealed to the government to speed up the connection of the area to the national grid to enable more schools to benefit from ICT training.
