Mahama Can’t Boast of One Completed Major Road In Brong Ahafo - Abronye DC

First Vice Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwame Baffoe has dared the NDC in the region to point out to Ghanaians one major tarred road they were able to complete in the Brong Ahafo regon.

According to Abronye DC as he is affectionately called, the NDC cannot account for one major road completed under the four year term of former President Atta Mills (late) and under four years of former President John Mahama.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' morning show on Wednesday to react to former President Mahama’s comment regarding the borrowing Akufo-Addo government has made, Kwame Baffoe averred the money can be accounted for on the various projects taking place in the country.

Former President John Dramani is challenging the government to show what it has done with the GHc50 billion it has borrowed since taking over power in January 2017.

To him, there are "visible signs" all over the country of roads, hospitals, schools and rural electrification projects, among many others, which were undertaken by the NDC administration.

The former President said it is important that the Akufo-Addo government accounts to Ghanaians for what it has also used the GHc50 billion for; wondering what could have prompted the NPP government to borrow a staggering GHc50 billion in less than two years in power, even though there is nothing to show for it.

But Abronye DC also marvelled why President Mahama keeps saying he has constructed roads; quizzing “where are the roads he has constructed? He should have mentioned the roads he has constructed when he was addressing the people of Techiman; he is just bragging”.

"If he finished the construction, why didn’t he pay the contractors and rather asking President Akufo-Addo to pay them? So I am throwing a challenge to the road contractors that President Akufo-Addo met to come out, that out of the 2 billion Ghana Cedis debt that Mahama incurred, the Ministry of Highway, Hon. Amoako Atta has paid 65 per cent of the debt to the road contractors. They can challenge me on this information I have given if the government has not settled some of the debts”.

He however emphasized that those road contractors, who took loans from banks to construct roads under former President Mahama and were not paid, have now been paid by Hon. Amoako Atta.

“With the money President Nana Addo has borrowed, it can be shown, as in Brong Ahafo alone, there is ongoing Cashew Processing Factory at Wenchi; we reviving this factory which for the past 8 (eight) years of NDC in power, it could not work”.

“The Tomato Processing Factory at Techiman-Toabodom which has collapsed is being revived as workers are on the site working hard to revive this factory. By next year, the factory can employ about 1,000 Ghanaians”.

He was of the view that “Former President Mahama should have stood by a project he did in the Brong Ahafo in 4 years and in 8 years of NDC in power to address the people of Techiman and possibly take pictures of the projects he did, but where are they?”

“NPP did a lot of roads in Brong Ahafo from Techiman-Kumasi, Techiman-Nkoranza-Ejura, Techiman-Kintampo, Techiman-Wenchi, Wenchi to Seikwa, Dormaa town roads, Dormaa to Diabaa, Goaso-Bediako, Goaso to Sankore. These are noteable roads constructed by the NPP under former President Kuffour,” he stated.
