Coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Bashiru Hayford, has described the three international friendly matches lined up for his side as timely, considering the fact that the team has not played any competitive match since winning the WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup in the Ivory Coast.

Bashiru Hayford insists the games will serve better purpose as they were still identifying the strengths of the team

“That is exactly what we were looking for because having put a team together you need to pick your strength against teams outside the country,” said coach Hayford.

The coach was coy on the level of satisfaction for the team’s preparation, he was, however, happy that a promise made to them regarding the trial matches have been fulfilled.

“We were assured immediately after the balloting we’ll see something like that.”

He was optimistic that the three matches will give them the needed test going into the tournament next month.

“It will help us to prepare very well going into the competition.”

Coach Hayford and his technical team will be using the trial matches to sharpen their tactical formations while working on the starting eleven to be used at the tournament.

The Queens flew out to Zambia on October 30 and will play Zambia’s She-Polopolo on November 3, 2018 before taking on their Kenyan counterparts on November 7.

The team will return home to continue preparations for the start the tournament on November 17 by engaging their South African counterparts.

The Black Queens will return to Ghana on November 9 and will wrap up preparations for the competition with a friendly match against South Africa’s Bayana Bayana before commencement of the tournament on Saturday, November 17, 2018.

The Queens are in group A alongside Cameroon, Mali and Algeria.
