Namibian MPs Pay Courtesy Call On National Youth Authority In Accra

A delegation from Parliamentary Committee on Gender, Youth and information  led by the Chairperson of the Regional council of Namibia, Joyce Namuhula, paid a one day working visit to the National Youth Authority (NYA) in Accra.

Accoridng to Joyce Namuhula, the aim of the team's visit is to learn and adopt some policies and interventions by the Authority to help their country, Namibia.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations and Programmes at the NYA, Mr. Bright Acheampong welcomed the delegation and mentioned some initiatives undertaken by the Authority which include youth leadership and skills training, establishment of Regional and District committee, construction of 10 youth resources centers, and Steps Towards Employment and Productivity Project (STEP)  which has seen over 3000 young people undergo digital and entrepreneurship training among others.

He called on the youth to take particular interest in government programmes and to dedicate themselves to their own positive growth and development as well as that of their communities.

Mr. Acheampong also stated that the NYA is in a process of reviewing its national policy which was launched in 2010, adding that a consultative process is currently ongoing to catch up with current trends in youth development.

The Namibian delegation expressed profound gratitude to the NYA for their warm reception and sharing their best practices in youth development with them.

Present at the meeting were all the Directors at the national secretariat of the NYA.
