Schalke To Hold Showdown Talks With Baba Rahman Over His Future

German side Schalke 04 will hold crunch talks with Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman over his future at the club.

Rahman, 24, has struggled since he re-joined the side on an 18-month loan deal from English giants Chelsea this summer.

The Ghana international has made just two starts and one substitute appearance largedly due to recurrent injuries and the availability of other players.

It appears Schalke have had enough of his fitness concerns and are considering terminating the loan deal.

The arrival of new signing Hamza Mendyl and the return of Bastian Oczipka has made his situation untenable at the club.

The former Augsburg left-back appears to be disadvantaged with the availability of the two competing players in the team.

The Ghanaian, who has played matches against Wolfsburg and against Berlin, has been pushed out of the first eleven and subsequently from the squad until he was named on the bench in their 3-1 defeat at Porto in their UEFA Champions League.

And manager Christian Heidel has hinted the club will hold talks with the Ghanaian.

"Baba needs games to get into the shape he had before his injury, and if he cannot get that season, we'll talk to him in peace in the winter," said Heidel

Rahman is on loan at the club until June 2019.
