Unrealistic Expectations Of A Wife!

I mean, who wouldn’t want a wife?  We all at some point in our lives, want to have someone else do things for us.

These things range from doing chores and tasks, such as laundry and cooking, to just keeping us satisfied in life, dealing with our mental, physical, social, and sexual needs.

I was reading an article ‘I want a wife’ written by Judy Brady. She wrote about how it dawned on her one evening about how she too being a wife and a mother, would of course love to have a wife to do all her chores, attend to all her physical, emotional, financial and psychological needs. She explains in her article how men in general want their wives to be and the duties she must perform as a wife.

In her article, what informed her decision about wanting to have a wife too was because of a conversation that took place between a male friend who appeared on the scene fresh from a recent divorce. He had one child, “who is, of course with his ex-wife.” He is looking for another wife.  Yes, you read right. He is looking for another wife though he recently got a divorce and left his son with his ex-wife.

According to Judy, men want a wife who will take care of their physical needs, a wife who will take care of their children while the go to school. A wife who will take care of their physical needs, plan the menus, entertain their guests, iron their clothes, a wife who will not bother them with rambling complaints about a wife’s duties, but a wife who will listen to them when they feel the need to need to explain a rather difficult point. Hmm!

Let’s jump to the most interesting part of this.  Men want a wife that will be sensitive to his sexual needs, a wife who makes love passionately and eagerly when I feel like it. A wife who will make sure he is satisfied and not demand for sexual attention from him when he is not I the mood. And finally, a wife who will understand him if by chance he finds another woman attractive and suitable for a wife than he already has while he expects a fresh new life which means the wife will have to take the children and be solely responsible for them.

This article was written in 1940 but let us bring it to what we see in our societies in this day. It is not wrong to help your boyfriend with chores but there should be a limit to what you do all in the name of “wifey material” You see young girls performing wife duties for boyfriends.

Boyfriend of this generation expect their girlfriend who they have not paid their bride price to perform wife duties for them but are very quick to tag a girl as materialistic when their girlfriend asks for things a husband should provide.

Although we are in the new era where so many things have changed compared to decades ago, some men who are married to career women have issues with their wife making more money and also expect them to neglect their dreams instead of rather pushing and supporting them to pursue those dreams because men are known to be the head of the family while their wives stay in the kitchen.

Why are some men still being chauvinists?
