"MAARIBA" Mobile App Officially Launched To Create Jobs For Artisans

MAARIBA, a mobile application to create job opportunities for artisans in Ghana, has officially been launched.

The launch was held on Wednesday, December 13, 2018 at the Coconut Groove Hotel in Accra.

Despite the high demand for vocational skills in the country, artisans in sub-Sahara Africa are still struggling with employment.

Generally, artisans are perceived to be sub-standard, unreliable and risky to employ their services.

Contrary to these perceptions, there are indeed skilled craftsmen in the country, and their potentials can be enhanced with the right support and exposure.

This mobile app has been primarily designed to provide a sustained stream of customers to artisans, ensure that customers easily access right and highly skilled craftsmen and improve the marketability of artisans by providing them with various professional skills and tailored capacity development training.

Addressing a gathering at the official launch of the mobile app, Chief Executive Officer of MAARIBA, Mark Akanko Achaw stated the app will help to resolve the challenges confronting artisans and also facilitate easy transaction between them and the service users who will employ their services.
