32 people would be contesting for eight national executive positions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the party�s national delegates� congress scheduled to take place in Accra on February 27. All the contestants, according to Antwi Adjei, an Administrator at the NPP headquarters, have been vetted to vie for the positions, including National Chairman, National Vice-Chairman, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Youth Organiser, National Women�s Organiser and Nasara Coordinator. Although media reports have suggested that the highly anticipated congress would be held at Liberty Sports Stadium, Antwi Adjei told DAILY GUIDE that the venue was yet to be finalized as the party was conscious of getting a spacious place to accommodate over 5,000 delegates to ensure the safety of participants. Five people, who are contesting for the National Chairmanship position, include Jake O. Obetsebi-Lamptey, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Samuel K.A.B. Crabbe, Felix Kwasi Owusu-Adjapong and Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby. Those contesting for the position of National Vice-Chairman are Michael Omari Wadie, Amadu Kaleem, Fred Oware, Rita Asobayire, Sheikh T.B. Damba, Baaba Otoo, Edward Collins Boateng and Sophia Horner-Sam. Obeng G. Busia, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, Nana Ohene-Ntow, Yaw Buaben Asamoa and Captain Nkrabeah Effah Dartey would battle for the General Secretaryship position. John Boadu, Alhaji Moctar, Musa Bamba and Isaac Eduosar Edumadze are contesting for the position of National Organizer whilst Kofi Osei Ameyaw and Esther Dzifah Ofori are contesting for the position of National Treasurer. Pius Enam Hadzide, Stephen Amoah, Michael Kwabena Ampong and Anthony Abayifaa Karbo would contest for the National Youth Organizer position. Two strong and vociferous women, Otiko Afisah Djaba and Christine Churcher would clash for the National Women�s Organizer position. Abubakar Sulemana, Alhaji Tanko Maharaja and Mohammed Aminu Ibrahim are also vying for the Nasara Coordinator of the party. Some national executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) won various positions through compromise at the party�s congress in Tamale, but delegates in the NPP are expected to contest keenly for various positions.
