CHRAJ Moves To Probe Muntaka

The allegations against Honourable Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase in the Ashanti Region worsen each day as information gathered by The New Crusading Guide has it that the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has consented to probe the former sports minister over allegations against him. CHRAJ says it has taken note of the letter from Progressive Nationalists Forum (PNF), a civil society group in the country, enjoin it to investigate allegations the group leveled the former minister. The Commissioner of CHRAJ, Mr Francis Emile Short stated in a letter addressed to PNF that �I acknowledge receipt of your complaint of 11th January, 2010, in which you make certain allegations of abuse of office and conflict of interest against Hon. Alhaji M.M. Mubarak, the immediate past Minister of Youth and Sports.� He assured the group in his letter that the complaint made to his outfit was receiving good attention. The petitioners alleged in their petition that, �the respondent (Hon. Alhaji M.M. Mubarak) personally arranged for the accommodation of the Black Stars and officials in Navaisha, Kenya, in a pre-match camping against Sudan, without the involvement of any other official of the Ministry.� �The respondent also requested for the refund of GH�664.02 in respect of baby oil, baby food, mouth wash, and other household items from the cashier of the ministry,� he group alleged in the petition. PNF further alleged that the former Sports Minister requested GH�1,000 per match for services of a mallam (spiritualist) and demanded cash immediately for that purpose, adding at the former minister fraudulently acquired a German visa for his girlfriend, Edith Zinuali, under the guise as an employee of the Ministry of Youth and Sports while in reality, she was an employee of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana.
