Jean Mensa Shouldn't Have Requested For More Time On ROPAL Implementation - NDC Communicator

A Communications team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Alhaji Halidu Haruna says the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jean Mensa should not have requested to be given an additional twelve months as an expert on electoral processes in relation to the Representation of the People's (Amendment) Law [ROPAL].

“I don’t think an electoral specialist like Jean Mensa as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo claims should ask for more time from the court in implementing the Representation of the People's (Amendment) Law [ROPAL],” he said.

He said “the High Court must reject the plea by the EC Boss” because the first gentleman of the land during her induction into office described her as an intelligent and more qualified person to control electoral processes of the country than Charlotte Osei who was then in office.

“I don’t side with Jean Mensa’s plea to the court seeking an extra 12 months when she has already realized and rendered the 2016 voters list as not authentic and wants to compile a new one."

“The law on ROPAL is too absurd for us because its operational issues will be problematic,” he stressed on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme.
