Christianborg Castle Is A Museum, Not Security Facility - Museums And Monument Board

Government has denied reports that the Christianborg Castle has been turned into a security facility.

Prolific writer and journalist, Manasseh Awuni Azure in his undercover investigations disclosed that a group of people were being trained at the Christianborg Castle to reportedly provide private security for ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The group called "De-Eye" who the documentary termed as "militia" have been harbored in the Castle for long while and undergoing security training for purposes known best to them.

But the Acting Executive Director of Christianborg Castle, Kingsley Ofosu Ntiamoah wants the general public to know that the Castle is a museum and not a security training zone as captured in Azure's exposé.

He explained in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com that "on 5th March, 2017, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo publicly declared and inaugurated the Osu Castle as a Presidential Museum of leadership and governance."

The Castle, he stated categorically, "is not a security installation. The Military and security sensitiveness associated with it have since been withdrawn. It now has a similar status as the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles".

He added that "visitors, tourists and the general public are allowed to visit" the Castle "when they please".
