One person was killed instantly when a truck with registration number GT 1547-14 ran into a group of passengers waiting at the Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) junction along the Tema to Accra stretch of the motorway.
The accident occurred on Monday, March 18, 2019 at about 7: 45am.
The deceased, who was only identified as Ophelia is said to be a resident of Ashaiman who commutes daily to work.
According to some eyewitnesses, she was part of a number of pedestrians waiting at the shoulders of the motorway to cross to the other side when the Hyundai truck, which was coming from Tema towards Accra allegedly had a break failure and ran into them.
Three other pedestrians also sustained various degress of injuries and were rushed to the Tema General Hospital.
The Police from the Airport Division later arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
