The Member of Parliament (MP) for Lawra Constituency, Mr. Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has donated 50 hospital beds and mattresses worth Ghc 85,400 to the Lawra Municipal Hospital as part of efforts to promote healthcare delivery in the Lawra Municipality.

The presentation of the items took place on Friday, the 22nd of March, 2019, during a grand durbar of the Chiefs and People of Lawra to mark the 90th Anniversary of the establishment.

Speaking to the media after the presentation, the Member of Parliament who doubles as Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways revealed he had been moved to make the donation following a recent tour of the hospital during which his attention was drawn to the no-bed situation.  He said he was so distraught by the lack of beds and mattresses in some units of the hospital that he immediately went about organizing funds to remedy the situation.

Mr. Abayifaa Karbo further stated that he had close affinity to the Lawra Municipal Hospital since it represented a key part of the history of Lawra and revealed his office was working tirelessly to address many more of the challenges confronting the hospital.

Receiving the items, Dr. Osei, the Upper West Regional Health Director, thanked the MP for his donation and handed it over to the Lawra Municipal Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Justine Dakura to be distributed immediately to the wards for use.
