Let’s Encourage Body Organs Donation To Save Lives - Dr. Nuamah Nabil Urges Ghanaians

General Surgeon at the 37 Military hospital, Dr. Nuamah Nabil has asked that body organs donation should be encouraged in Ghana.

According to him, Ghana does not have any concrete laws surrounding organs donation neither has awareness on the said donations be made, the brain behind the lack of donations in Ghana.

He confirmed that even though a lot of tests needed to be run to conduct a donor and a recipient donation of any part of the body that can be donated, an excessive awareness creation on the subject matter would take away the fear in donating an organ.

Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ health segment, Dr. Nabil emphasized that “it will cost a donor no harm to donate any of his/her body organs to a loved one who is really in need of it for survival.

“The perception that a donor will face challenges or have short life span is not true, only if the process is uniquely done and the recipient does not react to the organ donated. It is possible that a donor or a recipient will live longer than expected,” he further indicated.

Organ donation is the process of removing an organ from one person and surgically placing it in another person.

Many organs that can be donated include the liver, kidney, pancreas, and heart.
