NADMO To End Drought In The Northern Part Of Ghana

The Director-General for NADMO, Hon. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh on 31st March, 2019 led Ghana’s delegation to the 7th Session of the Conference of Parties of the African Risk Capacity Agency in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The African Risk Capacity (ARC) which is a specialized Agency of the African Union established with the aim of helping African governments improve their capacities to better plan, prepare and respond to extreme weather events and natural disaster.

In a presentation by the Director-General of NADMO, Ghana is working at deploying measures to build resilience and response to drought in the five (5) Northern Regions and the Bono East Region of the country. This would be done through strategic initiatives that would be rolled out in different faces through innovative financing and insurance measures in the coming year.

Hon. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh also called on the ARC to have a relook at calculations on the premium payments by member countries.

The conference was attended by member. Counties who also shared their respective successes and challenges in curtailing climate related disaster in their countries.
