I Commend Rockson Bukari...His Case Is Not Something To Jubilate About – Buaben Asamoah

The Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoah has stated emphatically that Akufo Addo and his government have fought corruption better than any political party in the country especially the opposition National Democratic Congress and its mother the PNDC government.

According to him, the opposition NDC has no credibility to talk when it comes to the fight against corruption in the country as there is no record to show for it except brutalities meted out to innocent Ghanaians in business including women, being publicly beaten.

“In the fight against corruption, the NPP has a better record than the NDC in terms of regime accountability,” he said.

Speaking on Okay FM's Ade Akye Abia programme, with host Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, he explained how the PNDC and NDC failed Ghanaians for years in fighting against corruption despite ruling the country more than any other political party; recalling how former president Jerry John Rawlings hurt and killed many in his quest to fighting corruption.

“Former President Jerry John Rawlings tried fighting corruption in his regime but he ended up hurting many and sending many to their early grave. Tthen President Nana Addo and his able ministers came up with the idea of the office of the special prosecutor to help unmask corrupt practices in the country".

He reiterated that "President Nana Addo is on cause in fighting against corruption and mismanagement of funds in the country and pleaded with Ghanaians to trust in the ability of the President and the special prosecutor to deliver on their promises,”.

Lawyer Buabeng Asamoah also debunked information making rounds that he has asked the police to commence investigations into the conduct of Rockson Bukari, the resigned minister of state at the Office of the President. According to him, he never made that statement but rather commended Mr. Rockson Bukari for exhibiting good behavior by resigning from his position.

“Mr. Rockson Bukari has served his country and NPP very well therefore his case is not something to be jubilating about...,” he added.
