Abronye DC Charges Police To Prosecute “Killers” Of Salvation Army Basic School Headteacher

NPP Chairman of Bono Region, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC has advised the youth of Ghana to take their education seriously and become better future leaders.

He asked the youth to shun all manner of vices but concentrate on their studies.

Abronye DC gave this advice following the death of the headmaster of Salvation Army Basic School at Asiakwa.

He called on the law enforcers not to spare the culprits but ensure they face full rigors of the law.

In a discussion on UTV’s “Adekye Nsroma” programme, Abronye DC chastised the youth for “killing” the headmaster.

He insisted that it didn’t lie in the hands of the youth to lynch the headmaster even if he were at fault.

To him, taking a punitive measure against the culprits will serve as deterrent to other people.

“What they did was wrong… they have to receive high punishment to serve as a deterrent to others...Smoking wee is not an option to be hardcore…There are more honorable ways to be hardcore than to smoke wee…We never took any wee but we were able to pass all our exams”, he stressed.

He also called on the Ghana Education Service to educate the youth about the harmful effects of drugs and its consequences.

The Kibi Police Command in the Eastern Region has arrested four teenagers for ruthlessly beating the Headteacher of Salvation Army Basic School, George Somuah Bosompem to death.

The Headteacher, 55, was attacked for protesting the invasion of his garden by drug addicts who smoke and defecated in the school.

It was gathered that the headteacher cautioned the youth to desist from smoking in the school to avert prosecution.

On April 28, 2019 while walking with a lady friend, the suspected addicts brutally attacked the deceased.

The suspects did not also spare the lady friend of the deceased as they manhandled her.

The incident attracted many residents to the scene and fortunately a Police Patrol team managed to arrest one of the suspects, Richard Amaning, 18, alias Konko while the other accomplices managed to run away.

The Headteacher who was badly injured was rushed to the Kibi Government Hospital and later transferred to St. Joseph Hospital where he passed away.

Later, Police investigations led to the arrest of Mireku Emmanuel 17, Philip Okodie, 17 and Paul Boadu, 18.

The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the incident adding that the suspects will reappear in court on May 7, 2019 on the provisional charge of murder.

He said the Police are making efforts to arrest other accomplices.

Meanwhile, teachers at the Asiakwa Salvation Army Basic School are on a sit-down strike in protest against the barbaric act by the youth.
