Media Freedom: Kweku Baako Salutes Kufuor, Akufo-Addo
The Managing Editor of the New Crusading Gude newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr says former President John Agyekum Kufuor deserved to be honored because he has done a lot for the Ghanaian media.
The Ghana Journalist Association at its 70th-anniversary launch honoured former President Kufuor with a Champion of Champions in Democracy title.
They applauded him for his support to the Association as well as his effort at promoting the freedom and independence of the media.
Kweku Baako speaking to this during a panel discussion on ‘Kokrokoo’, said: “President Kufuor deserves it . . . it is a well thought out decision by the GJA . . . In terms of expansion of the frontiers of free expressions and media freedoms, it will be difficult to take out President Kufuor (former), President Akufo-Addo and indeed in the fourth republic the NPP out of it; and so if GJA decides to honour him, it makes sense”.
