Allotey Jacobs Shares His Encounter With a Fake Journalist . . . As He Backs Kufuor's Call

Social Commentator, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has backed former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s call for all journalists to be licensed.

The former President speaking at the 70th Anniversary launch of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) called for the licensing of journalists to protect the sanctity of the profession.

Reacting to this during Wednesday’s edition of Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Allotey Jacobs said when journalists are licensed, it will get rid of the fake ones.

Recounting how he met a fake journalist in Cape Coast who claimed to be working for Peace FM as a correspondent in the Eastern Region, he said if he wasn’t smarter, the guy would have outwitted him.

“There is a need to license journalists . . . because we need to sift the wheat from the chaff; so that they will not twist what is said,” he said.
