Pupils Study Under Harsh Conditions At Paulkrom AME Zion School (PHOTOS)

Paulkrom AME Zion basic school situated in a village, Yaw Boame, close to Teacher Mante in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region is crying for help.

The 'school under trees' which accommodate pupils from class one (1) to JHS two (2) has fifteen (15) teachers including the headmaster who also do not have an office nor a staff common room for his teaching staff.

The school serves Yaw Boame and other nearby villages around Teacher Mante on the Accra to Kumsai highway.

The school closes whenever there is a thunder or a sudden change in the weather.

Learning has become nearly impossible in this rainy season as the school closes abruptly in such instance.

The leaking roof of an erected pavilion-like structure used as classrooms makes it uncomfortable for the pupils who have no choice but study under such harsh conditions.

The Headmaster and teaching staff are not left out as they hold staff meetings, take a break and mark assignments under trees.

Schooling to nurture and acquire knowledge to support the country or schooling to die under harsh conditions.

A country where politicians tour and make all sort of promises and throw away money in the name of ‘vote buying’ during election campaign seasons, but cannot build simple good structures for schools to nurture and train future leaders when they win power is a bleak one.
