Gen Mosquito Caused My Defeat To Sam George - NDC Parliamentary Aspirant

Defeated Parliamentary Aspirant in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency on the ticket of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Michael Tetteh Kwetey has accused his party General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, of causing his defeat in the just ended Parliamentary Primaries.

According to him, the results of the NDC Parliamentary Primaries in Ningo-Prampram would have been completely different had the party executives adhered to stipulated regulations laid down before the primaries.

"To be honest with you, if we had done everything to the agreed arrangement the party executives put in place, these results would not have been the outcome in the primaries, because we have 93 branches in Ningo-Prampram which the electoral commission call them polling stations. Before I became the NDC Constituency Chairman, Sam George led a team to conduct elections in 89 out of the 93 branches,” he narrated in an interview on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show.

Michael Kwetey recounted again that eventhough the Constituency Executive Committee, including the National Chairman, the Regional Chairman and the National Director of Elections, set up three branches out of the four outstanding branches in Ningo-Prampram Constituency; Sam George refused to allow the three branches to be part of the Primaries.

He disclosed that the National Executives then issued a statement to use the same Electoral College which was used to conduct the Presidential Primaries in the Parliamentary Primaries, however, the NDC Chief Scribe Asiedu Nketia reversed that decision two days to the Parliamentary Primaries.

“It was the National Executives which issued a statement that the Electoral College that participated and voted in the Presidential Primaries must be maintained to participate and vote in the Parliamentary Primaries, but then two days to Parliamentary Primaries, the General Secretary issued a statement that he has dropped those three branches. This is not the first time that the General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia has done something against my chance of winning the Parliamentary Candidature for the NDC in Ningo-Prampram. In 2015, when we were going for Parliamentary Primaries, I filed my nomination to contest Sam George and E.T Mensah and when we went for vetting, the General Secretary said that there is a petition against me and so he will set up a committee to investigate the matter . . .  till today in 2019, no committee has called me,” he asserted.

“ . . Sam George set up 89 branches and I never said anything about that, but then the only 3 branches that I and my executives have done, the General Secretary took them out; I give that matter to God. So, we are done with the elections. I don’t have any hatred in me for saying that I give the matter to God. It is the NDC party that I love and willing to work for but with the happenings in the party against me, it is not good,” he bemoaned.

He expressed his desire to meet with Mr Asiedu Nketia to right any wrongs he might have inadvertently caused as most of his decisions pertaining to the Ningo-Prampram constituency always goes against him.

“I have decided to meet with the General Secretary . . .  I will make sure that I see him personally to ask him to forgive me if I have wronged him in any way that I don’t know of, because anytime I stand for election, some of his decisions go against me,” Mr Kwetey disclosed.
