NPP Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC says the rate at which some foreign nationals are involved in criminal activities in the country is alarming.

Abronye DC made this comment on UTV "Adekye Nsroma" following a report that two suspected criminals allegedly shot Sergeant Michael Gyamasi and Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed, both of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, at Kasoa-Winneba highway.

The two officers met their untimely death in line of duty.

The suspects, who were recklessly driving an unregistered Toyota Camry fired gunshots at the unarmed policemen in attenpts to evade warnings by the officers to stop.

Addressing the issue, Abronye DC underscored the need for stringent measures in ensuring that security at various border posts is strengthened to prevent criminals from infiltrating the country.

“It is about time we put strict security measures to check security issues in the country because it is very difficult for us in Brong Ahafo Region to enter Cote d’Ivoire without a passport or following proper procedure but the issue is different issue when they are entering our country due to porous borders…so why is it that anytime there is a criminal activities, at least three or four foreigners are involved,” he quizzed.
